On March 24, 2018, freshmen Connor Froehlich and Carlie Pritt hosted Bowling Green State University's very own rally against gun violence. Members from BGSU, the city of Bowling Green, and even city council members attended the event, as well as news reporters who wanted in on the action. Throughout the BG Rally for Our Lives event, which was in conjunction with the national March for Our Lives movement, students were given the opportunity to have their voices heard, learn about the voting process, and write letters to Congress. Students spoke about their fears in schools due to rapid growth in gun violence and gave their ideas on how to approach the issue. We are incredible proud as a ECCO community of Froehlich and Pritt, who are both first year ECCO members and who both hold seats on ECCO's executive board on the planning branch this semester. With both members pursing a career in Adolescent to Young Adult Social Studies education, they can one day teach their students about how they got the opportunity to be a part of running a movement that impacted America. This is what being an ECCO member is all about: advocacy, education and changing the world. To see more photographs from the event, check out the ECCO BGSU Facebook.
